James Carter
James qualified in law in 2003 with a UK LLB (Hons) following an extensive and successful police career involving considerable investigative experience dealing with criminal prosecutions, including many appearances in the UK courts. James retired from Northamptonshire Police in 2002 moving to New Zealand in 2003 with his wife, four children and Trigger the dog [who sadly left us in 2015].
James Carter Law has been established to provide focused and experienced legal advice in all matters involving the criminal law and prosecutions by local government. Building upon years of providing in-house legal advice to a City Council we are now offering this experience to assist you when dealing with local government. As in-house Counsel James has advised on all aspects of resource management and local government law as well as advising on investigations and represented Council in legal proceedings and council hearings. James has established professional relationships with key local authority staff complimented by an in depth knowledge of local government.
James is a volunteer solicitor with Community Law Waikato and Patron of the Hamilton Dog Obedience Club .
James is a passionate dog owner.
